British Airways will begin nonstop service from San Jose to London in 2016, according to the airline.
Flights will begin May 16, 2016, with nonstop service from Mineta San Jose International Airport to London Heathrow on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Tickets for the first flight go on sale August 27.
“London is the No. 1 requested international destination from Mineta San José International Airport, and we’re so pleased to share the news today that we have delivered this service to Silicon Valley businesses and residents,” said Director of Aviation Kim Becker, in a release announcing the flight.
The Dreamliner, a new plane for the airline, offers a variety of seating options including eight seats in its premium “First” cabin. The airline will partner with American Airlines’ Business Extra program in an effort to serve small and medium sized businesses operating in America.
Mineta San Jose International Airport served 9.6 million passengers in fiscal year 2015, a 5.5 percent year-over-year increase. When the British Airways flight begins in May it will offer 142 peak daily flights on 12 domestic and international carriers.
