Alas, it’s officially the last weekend of summer. Here are few opportunities to make the best of it before we dive head first into pumpkin-spiced everything, Oktoberfest and Halloween parties.

It’s all about cowboy boots and denim Friday at Shoreline as country superstar Tim McGraw toasts the summer. Not your scene? The Bridge School lineup (also at Shoreline) was released this week and tickets go on sale today.

Poor House Bistro, San Jose’s hub for NOLA-style food, drinks and music, hosts the 3rd Annual Lil’ Easy Backyard Party, a two-day bash with live music to benefit the Stroke Awareness Foundation. Special guest Rafael Saadiq (usually a headliner at much larger venues) will be in the house along with a full lineup of blues bands.

Dog lovers won’t want to miss Bark in the Park, which expects nearly 4,000 dogs and 15,000 people at William Street Park for a celebration of our four-legged friends.

The Center for Asian American Media left its digs in San Francisco to bring CAAMFest to San Jose. The four-day event includes special film screenings, parties and a sneak preview of the new season of TV sitcom Fresh Off The Boat.

For the 420-friendly, HempCon is in town with medical marijuana trendsetters, accessories and live music. With an expected 15,000 attendees, it’s one of the biggest events of the year at the McEnery Convention Center.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde sets the tone for pre-season Halloween at City Lights Theater while The Lion King and Tosca productions also continue in downtown San Jose.

In Santa Clara, the 35th Annual Art and Wine Festival pairs more than 170 vendors with local vineyards for a day party. Beer fans can get an early start with Oktoberfest celebrations in Silicon Valley.
