Three Degrees Restaurant in Los Gatos, located at the Toll House Hotel, is the latest Silicon Valley restaurant scheduled to host its first-ever beer dinner with offerings from Paso Robles’ Firestone Walker Brewing Company.

This beer-and-food pairing event on Oct. 3 continues the popular trend throughout Silicon Valley, reflected by the growing number of restaurants hosting these types of events. Beer dinners, where each course is accompanied by a hand-selected beer, are great for both beer enthusiasts and those new to beer appreciation and help showcase beer’s style varieties and versatility.

The five-course dinner at Three Degrees Restaurant will be prepared by executive chef Albert Nguyen-Phuoc:

Reception Starter: Fresh Ahi Tuna Tartare
Beer pairing: Pale 31 (California Style Pale Ale)

First Course: Oxtail Pot-Au- Feu
Beer pairing: DBA (English Pale Ale)

Second Course: Roasted Duck Breast Salad
Beer pairing: Pivo (Hoppy Pilsner)

Third Course: Seared Day-Boat Scallop
Beer pairing: Double Jack (Imperial IPA)

Fourth Course: Roasted Pork Tenderloin
Beer pairing: Opal (Saison)

Fifth Course: Belgian Chocolate Truffles
Beer pairing: Velvet Merlin (Oatmeal Stout)

Like all quality beer dinners, both the chef and a knowledgeable representative from Firestone Walker will be on hand to introduce each course.

Three Degrees also has a selection of craft beers on tap, with recent offerings including Firestone Walker Double Jack, Hangar 24 Orange Wheat, Anchor Steam Summer Beer, Lagunitas IPA and Speakeasy Payback Porter. Expect more local pours soon from the likes of Hermitage Brewing Co., Red Branch Cider Co., Drake’s Brewing Company and Calicraft Brewing Co.

Interestingly, this beer dinner will be the first and last at Three Degrees Restaurant before extensive remodeling will start later this fall. Expect a new name and brand for the reopening in the winter.

Dinner tickets are $75, which include tip and taxes, and are available online.
