Fresh off leading the Stanford Cardinal to an Orange Bowl victory and the most successful football season in school history, quarterback Andrew Luck has decided to make the NFL wait a little longer.

The redshirt sophomore, who almost assuredly would have been the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL draft, today announced the rare decision to stay in school instead of becoming a millionaire many times over.

“I am committed to earning my degree in architectural design from Stanford University and am on track to accomplish this at the completion of the spring quarter of 2012,” Luck said in a statement.

The Cardinal faithful now have to wonder if coach Jim Harbaugh will also return to make a run for a national championship in 2011.
