Diners can now eat indoors in Santa Clara County, if they want. Some restaurants are taking advantage of the extra capacity allowed by local health officials, and launching new, seasonal menus or bringing back crowd favorites.

Each week the staff at SanJose.com compiles some of those restaurants, including ones that recently expanded their hours, date night spots, casual fare and diners sticking to takeout and delivery for now.

Newly Open

Plumed Horse


14555 Big Basin Way, Saratoga; 408.867.4711

Plumed Horse expanded its operating hours to include Wednesday evenings this month, and has unveiled its fall menu. Outdoor seating, which includes heaters, fountains, firepits and chandeliers, is open at 5pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Le Papillon


410 Saratoga Ave, San Jose; 408.296.3730

Like many Santa Clara County restaurants, Le Papillon recently reopened its indoor dining room at limited capacity, but that means its three- and four-course prix fixe and tasting menus are back. Outdoor dining is also open, as is takeout, daily from 5 or 5:30 to 9pm.

The Basin’s Oak Tree patio is open, with a two-hour reservation because seating is limited. Open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 4 to 8pm and Saturdays until 9pm.

Willard Hicks

Steaks, pork chops and American fare is served up on the patio daily starting at 4pm. The restaurant closes at 10pm Sunday to Thursday and at 11pm Friday and Saturday. The restaurant also offers dinner packages and cocktail specials to-go for curbside takeout.

La Foret

In the pre-Covid era, La Foret was an events and wedding venue in addition to a ritzy French restaurant by the same people who operate the GrandView Restaurant. For now it’s open for patio dining from 5 to 9pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Dry Creek Grill

Dry Creek Grill remained one of Metro readers’ favorites in the 2020 Best Of Silicon Valley polling, offering prime steaks, slow-cooked barbeque and burgers alongside cocktails, wine and beer. Open from 4:30 to 8:30pm Tuesday to Saturday.

This Greek restaurant has recently launched its seasonal autumn menu, including roasted butternut squash and pumpkin bread pudding. Outdoor dining is open daily for lunch between 11:30am and 2:30pm and for dinner between 5:30 and 8:30pm.

Ladera Grill

Ladera sits in the historic Keels Building in Monterey, offering seafood, steak and chicken dishes. The restaurant is open for patio dining daily from 11am to 10pm. Seating and takeout orders cut off at 9:30pm.

Momo Grill

The Momo Grill has been around for almost exactly one year, serving Nepalese, Indian and Himilayan cuisine, including the momo, a type of South Asian dumpling. Open every day except Mondays for lunch between 11am and 2pm and for dinner between 5 and 9pm.

Bill of Fare

Bill of Fare is open for breakfast and brunch between 7:30am and 2:30pm offering contactless payments and sanitizing tables between customers. For those who would prefer to be home, Bill of Fare also offers delivery and takeout options.

SP2 Communal Bar + Restaurant

SP2 sits on the edge of San Pedro Square Market in downtown San Jose, serving specialty cocktails and American fare by Executive Chef Paul Nuno. Open from 4 to 8:30pm Wednesday and Thursday and 4pm to midnight Friday and Saturday. Brunch is served on Sundays from 11am to 4pm.

Lupita’s Taqueria

Lupitas is open for delivery through DoorDash or takeout at its Santa Clara location along busy El Camino Real. The family-owned location is open from 10am to 9pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday.

Agave Mexican Grill

Agave Mexican Grill comes from the same people behind Fiesta Del Mar (which recently merged with Agave) and Fiesta Del Mar Too. Diners can eat in Agave’s backyard patio or get takeout from noon to 9pm Tuesday to Sunday.

Blue Water Seafood

Some diners may be familiar with Blue Water Seafood’s Willow Glen location, but the restaurant has now moved to its location at the @First Shopping Center in North San Jose, which the owners describe as better in just about every way. Open daily from 11am to midnight.

Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub

Firehouse offers both typical gastropub food, like bacon mac and cheese and shoestring fries, but also warmed brie, calamari and beet salad, alongside a variety of beer, wine and mixed drinks. Takeout and outdoor dining along San Pedro Street is available Tuesday to Sunday.
