The Pruneyard Shopping Center in Campbell stands on land once occupied by prune and pear trees, and once again the spot will be home to an orchard—of a kind. Orchard City Kitchen, a new venture from Michelin-starred chef Jeffrey Stout, is expected to open in summer 2014 at the Pruneyard.

Stout served for eight years as chef and chief operating officer for Alexander’s Steakhouse, which operates restaurants in Cupertino and San Francisco.

Alexander’s earned one star in the Michelin Guides for 2011 through 2013.

Given Stout’s, uh, stellar background, fine dining would seem a natural choice for Orchard City Kitchen, but in an interview with the Silicon Valley Business Journal Stout said he’d be focusing on more casual fare and small plates.

Orchard City Kitchen will take over the 6,200-square-foot space that will be vacated by Hobee’s California Restaurant at the end of this year.
