Jazz fans in Silicon Valley have one more venue to add to their list of places to listen to live jazz with a new performance space at Casino M8trix.

In addition to gambling and dining and drinking options, Zone 8 is now hosting weekly jazz performances on Saturday nights. Popular local act Octobop kicked off the series in January and Gail Dobson performed the following Saturday.

“Jazz is a stable entertainment that brings in a great crowd. It has a great feel and goes well for San Jose,” said Brian Turpin, owner of NYC Food and Beverage, which manages Zone 8 at Casino M8trix.

The lineup for early 2013 includes artists, such as David Ladd, Smith Dobson, John Worley, and Diminished Blue. Turpin says he is also considering a blues night on another day of the week.

Turpin said he’s mostly interested in keeping costumers happy and getting them to come back for more.

“It provides live original music by very talented, passionate musicians,” Turpin said. “You can see their passion and the audience’s enjoyment.”

“I predict it’s going to go great,” Turpin said. “The lineup is just as strong for the next six weeks and we are already booking bands for the next round of eight weeks.”

Scheduled Performances:

Feb 9 – Smith Dobson
