San Jose has plenty of steakhouses but few seafood restaurants. These five stand out.

Dia de Pesca
Dia de Pesca, which means “gone fishing” in Spanish, is like a food truck that doesn’t go anywhere. And with inventive and cheap Mexicanized seafood that’s a good thing.

The Fish Market
With its oyster bar, sushi bar and mesquite grilled fish, The Fish Market is the go-to seafood restaurant.

McCormick and Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant
Few restaurants can match the variety of seafood McCormick and Schmick’s packs into its seasonally changing menu. Don’t look for inventive or modern cuisine, just classic American seafood served in a handsome setting.

Scott’s Seafood
Seafood with a view. I’m not sure when it happened, but Scott’s has become a San Jose institution for its simple, but elegant seafood and classy, sixth floor dining room.

Yankee Pier
Open since 2002 in Santana Row, Yankee Pier offers a simple, but impeccably fresh menu of sustainably sourced seafood.
