Some of the most exquisite new cars, trucks, hybrids and more roll into downtown San Jose for 2012 Silicon Valley International Auto Show.

The auto show starts Thursday at San Jose McEnery Convention Center and continues through Sunday with more than 30 of the world’s leading car manufactures, from electric vehicles to top-of-the-line luxury rides. The entire convention center and the South Hall will be filled with everything automotive.

The non-selling environment allows attendees to kick the tires of all of their favorite makes and models and sit behind the wheel of automobiles that are not yet available on the market.

Several models should turn heads on the show floor, including the Chevrolet Sonic, FIAT 500, 2013 Ford Escape, Ford Focus, Hyundai Veloster, Mazda3, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat and more.

All-electric vehicles including the 2013 Ford Focus Electric, Nissan LEAF, Chevrolet Volt, the latest from Fisker and the CODA EV Sedan and more. A Silicon Valley International Auto Show first, CODA is a zero emission EV sedan that provides consumers 120-150 real-world driving miles per charge. The 6.6 kW on-board charger takes six hours to fully charge from empty, and two hours to charge for an average 40 mile commute.

The Exotic Vehicle Collection will feature several ultra, high-end exotic vehicles including hot models from Bentley, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and Lotus, courtesy of Los Gatos Luxury Cars.

Northern California Ford Dealers are providing test drives on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Test drives of models from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and FIAT, including the Chrysler 200, 300, Town & Country, Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Dodge Challenger, Charger, Durango, Journey, Ram 1500 and the FIAT 500 are also available Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Showgoers can also get behind the wheel of several new model Toyota vehicles including the Camry, Prius v, Prius, RAV4, Corolla and Tundra at The Toyota Drive Center. Hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A custom car show will take over the South Hall of the convention center, featuring exotics, drift cars, tuners and lowriders. Vehicles on display include custom sport compacts, tricked-out rides and more, courtesy of Z Car Garage, Nokturnal Car Club Bay Area Chapter and San Jose’s Finest CC. Two collections of vehicles showcasing the history of the Chevrolet Corvette and Ferrari will be on display as well as the United States Touring Car Championship display of modified, production-based sedans, coupes and hatchbacks.

The latest in radio controlled cars, trucks, helicopters, planes and boats will also be on display in the South Hall. Attendees will be able to race against friends on a special “Try-Me Track.”

Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for military, senior citizens (62 and older), students (under 25 with valid school ID) and children 7-12. Children 6 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Attendees will receive a free one-year subscription to Motor Trend magazine with each admission, an $18 value, courtesy of the Silicon Valley Auto Dealers Association.
