IMAX Born to be Wild 3D
If it’s too hot for a trip to the zoo, drop into the air-conditioned Hackworth IMAX dome theatre at the Tech Museum to get up close and personal with orangutans and elephants via an eight-story screen and 13,000 watts of wrap-around digital surround sound. The God-like Morgan Freeman provides the sage narration.

Save the Bay Luncheon Forum
Wetlands and salt ponds are nature’s protection against hurricanes and flooding—see Katrina for case in point. Minnesota-based Cargill Inc. and Arizona-based luxury home developer DMB Associates would like to develop 12,000 homes on 1,436 acres of restorable salt ponds in Redwood City. A growing number of Bay Area residents don’t think that’s such a great idea. Hear what Josh Sonnenfeld, campaign manager for Save The Bay, has to say about it at this month’s Technology and Society Committee Luncheon Forum.

Neon Trees with 5606
This week’s Music in the Park free concert features Neon Trees, the Mormon alt-rock band from Utah. They only have one proper studio album under their belt but they’ve already scored big with Las Vegas commercials and a performance of their hit song, “Animal,” on Glee. San Jose-based power-pop band 5606 opens.
Friday:
Nick Thune
If Zach Galifianakis were skinny and played guitar instead of piano, he could pass for Nick Thune. In his Conan appearance earlier this year, Thune strummed gentle melodies while letting dry one-liners fly like “I like to BCC Stevie Wonder on all my emails,” and “C-sections are like the DiGiorno’s of pregnancies, because it’s not delivery.” He performs at Rooster T. Feathers this weekend with Jacob Sirof and Nick Rutherford.
