The outpouring of support for Bryan Stow —the Bay Area man who was beaten to an inch of his life at Dodgers Stadium on Major League Baseball’s Opening Day—has resulted in almost $70,000 in donations for his medical bills and other costs, the Associated Press reports.

Stow was wearing a San Francisco Giants jersey and leaving the game with friends when two unknown men attacked him from behind for no reason other than he was supporting the visiting team. A reward of $150,000 is being offered to help track down the suspects.

The Giants dedicated Monday night’s home game against the Dodgers to Stow, and members of both teams talked to the crowd before the first pitch about the importance of sportsmanship and realizing it’s just a game.
