Mineta Airport’s Terminal C is officially a thing of the past, and (shades of Joni Mitchell) the building is in the process of being torn down and turned into a parking lot. Of course it was hardly paradise that is being paved, but a little bit of the city’s history is being turned over to the wrecking ball.

Within two weeks, work will be completed on the South Concourse, and work will begin on the central part of the terminal. That should take about a month, and the wrecking ball will move to the North Concourse and former ticketing area by late September.  At this rate, the 1,400 new parking spaces should be ready by the Thanksgiving rush.
