The 150-plus-acre park along Senter Road opposite San Jose Municipal Stadium provides a green respite for strollers and picnickers. In the middle of the elongated park sits the Japanese Friendship Garden, a quiet retreat with large ponds connected by gurgling rivulets, traditional landscaping and man-made features like small stone islands and arching bridges.

The northwest end of the park is occupied by the Happy Hollow Zoo, which recently underwent an extension renovation, with a new spacious entrance with whimsical animal sculptures and an expanded parking lot and refurbished exhibits and animal enclosures. Admission to the zoo is $12 for guests ages 2-69, $8 for seniors, and free for children under one. Happy Hollow is open daily during the summer.

At the other end, History Park preserves significant markers of San Jose and Santa Clara County’s past. A number of historic buildings have been rebuilt in a small-town setting presided over by a model of San Jose’s famous light tower. Art shows can be seen at the Pasetta House and Pacific Hotel. Various railroad and trolley restorations are always underway in the trolley barn, and trolley rides are offered on the weekends. The park hosts a variety of family events throughout the summer.

Kelley Park is located on Senter Road and Keyes Street in San Jose.
