It's been a while since our last show, and I wanted to do something special for this one. And maybe something special for you.

Ever since I started coaching folks in the art of Pecha Kucha, there's been a constant question about the format. It's understood that the 20 slides, each advancing after 20 seconds, is the basis of PK. But there's always a presenter or two who wants to do theirs slightly differently. They want to use animation; they need a slide to go a bit longer than 20 seconds; they need one more slide (or five more slides)...

And we've bent the rules a few times on request. But we've never just opened it up to everyone.

Until now.

The theme of the next Pecha Kucha San Jose event is Break One Rule. In fact, it's really more like "there's only one rule you can't break." Every presenter must be finished in the standard six minutes and forty seconds. Aside from that, we’re loosening things up and seeing how it goes.

There are a few other changes this time, mostly having to do with the venue and seating. We will be offering reserved seating. Certainly the presenters will be able to avail themselves of this, but we'll open it up to patrons/audience members so they can be sure to get a good seat. Presenters and their guests will be given priority here. More on that when I announce it publicly.

In the meantime, I'm opening the even up to you. If you’d like to try out Pecha Kucha, this is a great time to try it out.
