Described as "one of Britain's most respected songwriters" by Allmusic, Neil Halstead is known as a founding member of Slowdive, a band often associated with the shoegazer musical genre. After they disbanded, Neil has struck out on his own, releasing two solo albums, 2002's Sleeping on Roads and 2008's Oh Mighty Engine. Much of his music from his solo career draws inspiration from British and American folk music, recalling such artists as Nick Drake, Bert Jaunch, Will Oldham and Jeff tweedy.
