The South Bay Guitar Society presents Edel Munoz in their 26th season of presenting classical guitar music. By encouraging very diverse styles of music and guitar playing, the SBGS aims to educate the public as well as providing opportunities for professional and amateur guitarists to showcase their talent.

Edel Muñoz began his guitar studies at age 7 at the Vocational School of Art in his native town, Matanzas, Cuba. He graduated from the National School of Music in Havana in 1994 and continued studies with Eduardo Isaac in Argentina; Luis Orlandini at the University of Santiago de Chile; and Alex Garrobe in Barcelona, Spain.

At the age of 20, he took first prize at the prestigious International Competition and Festival de Guitarra de La Habana. He has since won over 18 international competitions, including the 2010 Montreal International Competition.

He has performed in major theaters and recital halls throughout Cuba, Central America, South America, the United States, Canada and Europe as solo recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestras such as Barcelona Sinfonietta, Miami Symphony Orchestra and Cuba’s National Symphony Orchestra.
