The concert will feature renowned jazz musician Eddie Gale and the Inner Peace Orchestra. “Conceived and presented during the civil rights movement in 1968 as a musical and theatrical performance.” (R&B World Magazine, 1968) "Eddie Gale's Ghetto Music...An unusual mixture of jazz, street music, and deeply rooted folk rhythms." (New York Times, 1970).

Last year, Mr. Gale described the concert, “The audience will hear music from the remake and beyond of my recordings, ‘Eddie Gale’s Ghetto Music’ which was originally recorded on Blue Notes Records in 1968. This performance is a preview of a not-yet-released album including information about some of the creativeness of how songs reflected the spirit the times. The Inner Peace Orchestra features drums, bass, guitar, dancer, singer, harp, violin, dijeridoo, piano, trap drums, hand drums, flute, and occasionally, crystal bowls and Tibetan bells when sounds of healing are performed.”

Juan Correa, a past principal of Horace Mann commented on the experience student enjoy at camp. “Students will remember this experience for the rest of their lives. For many, this may be the only time they ever experience science lessons surrounded by the forest where they use all five senses to learn. It is wonderful to see students bond with each other and with their teachers to create a community.” A Horace Mann fifth grader described her upcoming attendance at science camp. ”I’m so excited and cannot wait to go. I’m sure I will have a lot of fun.”

Horace Mann is an urban elementary school centrally located in downtown San Jose, California and is part of the San Jose Unified School District.
