In her new exhibit opening at the SJMA, the experimental multimedia artist Diana Al-Hadid studies her own immigrant experience. Born in Aleppo, Syria, and was raised in Ohio, Al-Hadid has long been interested in her own immigrant experience. In "Diana Al-Hadid: Liquid City," which opens this week at the SJMA, the artist unpacks her creative process by bringing together related works and primary source materials. The centerpiece of the exhibition is Nolli's Orders is the massive centerpiece of her new show. With Roman columns, construction scaffolding andHunched and reclining figures, the piece speaks to the frailty of human creations and institutions. (NV)
