Locals ArtemesiaBlack mix gentle earthy folk sounds with dark gothic theatrics. The music has elements of chamber-pop, jazz and Americana, while the lyrics gravitate towards the macabre, often spinning creepy ghost stories with a twinge of humor. The duo consists of long time local musician Kenny Schick (Dot 3, Neosoreskin) and vocalist Sabine Heusler-Schick. They change up instruments song to song from ukuleles, to guitars to cellos. Heusler-Schick's vocals are at times reminiscent of somberness of Tori Amos; other times she captures the quirky cartoon quality of CocoRosie's Bianca Casady.
