Cukui Clothing and Biscuits dog boutique are celebrating their one-year anniversary with a free, pet-friendly block party in Japantown on August 27 from noon to 6pm featuring live entertainment, food, beer and art.

Cukui was founded in 2008 by Locquiao brothers Orly and Jason. The company’s urban clothing designs are influenced by graffiti, tattoo art and street photography of Chicano and South Pacific Islander culture. The store owners pride themselves in releasing a new collection each month as well as showcasing local artwork every second Friday.

Biscuits is dedicated to providing organic and natural products to keep pets healthy. The store is packed with accessories, toys, supplements and grooming supplies.

The free anniversary party will feature drummers, dancers, bands, and approximately 30 local vendors and food trucks, including Flora & Fauna, Neda Jewelry, Omi Ninja, Spicy Roy’s Caribbean Grill and Grub Shack. Drunken Starfighter, Mango Kingz and Audiopharmacy will perform, along with DJ sets from Cutso and Dion and more. Mixed media art will also be on display.

Dogs and cats from San Jose Animal Care & Services will be on site for adoption and dog-training sessions will be led by Our Pack, a South Bay pit bull rescue organization.

A raffle will include prizes such as gift baskets, gift certificates and Cukui special edition anniversary tees.
