Description
See hundreds of freshly gathered local specimens. Taste recipes from renowned local chefs and learn to identify and prepare safe and savory species. Exhibits, slide talks, mushroom marketplace, and hands-on fungus fun for the whole family. Speakers over the two days include Dr. Dennis Desjardin; Bill Freedman (“Don’t Eat These Mushrooms”); Ken Litchfield ("The Domestication and Training of Native Mushrooms for Wildland Stewardship, Companionship, and Fun"); Bob Mackler (“Mushrooms 101: Reproduction, Spore Dispersal, Edibility, and Toxicity”); Dan Nicholson (“California Edible Fungi”); Else C. Vellinga of the UC Berkeley Department of Plant and Microbial Biology (“Mushrooms, Toadstools, and Beyond”) , and Philip Ross, who grows sculptural artworks from living mushrooms. NEW THIS YEAR: SCI-FI MOVIE STARRING MUTANT MUSHROOMS!
