Steve Jobs has apparently been after Sean Connery to participate in an Apple commercial. Let’s face it. Even in his early 80s, Connery is so much cooler than Justin Long, who plays the Mac against John Hodgman’s PC. Connery turned Jobs down not once but several times, saying n a letter that he would not “sell his soul for Apple or any other company.” It’s unclear if the letter is, in fact, real.
But apparently no amount of money could convince Connery to participate. As he wrote to Jobs, “You are a computer salesman – I am fucking JAMES BOND.”
So perhaps Jobs had better consider some other actor who played Bond instead. What has Timothy Dalton been doing anyways since “License to Kill” came out?
