Monday:
Italian Wine Appreciation Class
Savvy Cellar Wines offers an Italian wine class for those curious about the differences between the 20 Italian wine regions and the 2,000-plus indigenous varieties, from Pinot Grigio to Trebbiano and Sangiovese to Nebbiolo. Tastings will of course be offered along the way.

Tuesday:
Seasick Steve
Most guitar rockers struggle to make six strings sound interesting. Not Seasick Steve. He only needs three, and can sometimes get away with just one. Hear what this blues master does with his self-designed instruments at the Blank Club on Tuesday.

Wednesday:
Family Room
Wednesday nights at the Blank Club provide quite the bargain: cheap drinks and eclectic, live music for free. Family Room is Evan Jewett’s solo project, a moody and melancholy blend of folk and Americana. The songs have a heavy but open atmosphere, like a gasoline fog or an unpacked suitcase.

Thursday:
Robert Silverman’s Beethoven Benefit Concerts
Acclaimed pianist Robert Silverman performs the complete Beethoven piano sonata cycle at Le Petit Trianon and for a good cause—all proceeds go to the Room of Magic at Stanford Children’s Hospital in association with the Elf Foundation, a non-profit organization that builds theaters for sick children.

Friday:
Shen Yun
Banned in China due to its association with the Falun Gong spiritual practice, the shows produced by the New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts company carry a hefty, self-proclaimed mission: “to revive 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture.” Thanks to our good ol’ First Amendment, the colorful and epic show runs this weekend at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.
