City Councilmember Nancy Pyle had a chance to get parents’ perspectives on a proposed city ordinance that would hold them accountable for the consequences of underage drinking parties they enabled. While the ordinance has yet to be written, supporters envision fining parents for the cost of emergency services incurred in DUIs involving teens who drank under their auspices. The meeting discussed the overall idea of enacting such an ordinance and the specifics of what the ordinance might entail.

The push to enact such an ordinance follows the deaths of two local teens: Roshan Rahbari, 18, in September, and Jordan West, 17, in November. In both cases, police believe that the teens had been drinking.
