San Jose will soon be one step closer to being an electric car Mecca. Tesla Motors has confirmed that it plans to open a new showroom on Santana Row. All that’s missing is the exact address—that has not been announced yet. Tesla already has 16 show rooms, including one in Menlo Park and another in Marin. Its first European showroom is scheduled to open in Milan next week.

One of the questions being asked is what Tesla will show in its showroom. The Roadster is scheduled to be go off market next year, but it will be replaced by the Model S sedan. The new vehicle has a range of 160 miles when fully charged, though larger battery packs with a range of 230 and 300 miles will also be available. Charging time is expected to last 3 to 5 hours, depending on the battery, though a 45-minute QuickCharge, using a 480 V outlet, will also be available. Several thousand people have already ordered the car, which is scheduled for release in early 2012.
