Tired of robocalls, of people knocking on your door, of junk mail galore expounding the virtues of this candidate or that? Tired of seeing signs plastered across every lawn and public space, espousing the same tired names and encouraging you to vote Yes or No? Yes or No? The light at the end of the tunnel is here, and sorry Jon Stewart, but it isn’t New Jersey. Election Day is finally here, and this round of bickering will soon be over.

By midnight tonight, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be able to go back to terminating, not governating. We’ll have a new crew in Sacramento, a new insurance commissioner, new City Council members, new legislators, new senators and congressmen, please heed the call … The times they are a-changing (okay, so maybe we’ll have the same senator). The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast, the slow one now will later be fast, and the present now will later be past … We’ll also decide if marijuana should be legalized, and if the state should continue pressing forward with its plans to curb greenhouse gases.

Most Santa Clara County voters—70 percent of them—are expected to vote by mail this election. For the remaining few who are voting the more traditional way at the voting booth, 854 stations will be open throughout the county until 8pm. If you haven’t mailed in your ballot yet, you can take it to any polling station to hand it in, or if you are in San Jose, to the Registrar’s Office at 1555 Berger Drive.

See here tomorrow for the results. And remember, no matter who wins, the real winners are … the Giants!!!
