Spike and Mike’s Animation Fest at Camera 3
The legendary duo have put together not just one but two collections of the best in indie animation. Spike and Mike’s “2010 Sick and Twisted” program features their staple brand of warped gross-out humor while their “2010 New Generation” show features award-winning shorts that are less likely to trigger the gag reflex and more likely to tickle the brain.

Tuesday:
Bluegrass and BBQ at Sam’s Bar-B-Que
Dig into some of San Jose’s best BBQ with the romping traditional bluegrass band Windy Hill, the local band that plays bluegrass the way it’s meant to be played – passionately and at full tilt.

Wednesday:
‘reasons to be pretty’ at San Jose Stage
Ever marveled at how a slip of the tongue in a relationship can produce a tsunami effect? The regional premiere of “reasons to be pretty,” Neil LaBute’s first coming-of-age story and nominee for the Tony Award for Best Play of 2009, opens at the San Jose Stage Company this Wednesday.

Thursday:
Romantic Symphony at California Theater
Maestro George Cleve conducts the opener of Symphony Silicon Valley’s 2010-11 season at the beautifuly restored California Theater. Featuring soloist Nathan Gunn, the “Romance and Celebration” program includes Schumann’s “Symphony No. 1 in B-flat: Spring Symphony,” Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer” and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 7.”

Friday:
South First Fridays Art Walk
The only bad thing about the South First Fridays art walk / block party in the SoFA district is that it only happens once a month. In addition to the standard fare of thought-provoking and always-relevant artwork, look for some Halloween-themed pieces at October’s installment.
