Description
The Montalvo Arts Center presents an evening with Stephen Shore in its intimate Carriage House Theatre. Stephen Shore is unique in that he was diagnosed with atypical development with strong autistic tendencies at a young age and was subsequently recommended for institutionalization. However, Shore's parents disagreed, and with their help and the help of dedicated teachers, friends and professionals, Shore progressed more than anyone else could have imagined. And now, he is currently completing his Ph.D in special education at Boston University and is focusing on helping autistic individuals develop their abilities to the fullest extent.To celebrate Autism Awareness Month, Stephen Shore will discuss his experiences living with this mental handicap and provide insight into the autistic mind.
