Pete Sampras won the SAP Open twice. The event will no longer be held in San Jose after next year.
Professional tennis is leaving San Jose and walking to Memphis.
The ATP World Tour announced this week that the 123-year-old tennis tournament, currently known as the SAP Open, will not return in 2014. In the past, the event featured greats such as John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and many others. More recently, casual fans would have a hard time identifying the top seeds. The tournament will move to Memphis after next year’s final event in San Jose, while Memphis’ stop will move to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
