Poor Kenny G. Despite being one of the world’s most renowned jazz instrumentalists, he’s also the target of more ridicule than perhaps any living musician, save the Hanson brothers. But even those blond-haired oomboppers haven’t had to endure multiple decades of scorn, although they never came close to garnering the kind of longstanding popularity that Kenny G has achieved. Like many forms of popular music, smooth jazz itself is a subject of controversy, so being the king of that genre comes with a certain amount of vulnerability.
