Description
Grounations are ancestral Rastafarian ceremonies meant to reach a common vibration through the positive energies of prayer and music. Progressive reggae band Groundation takes a twist to the name and brings the ancient tradition to the present-day with their experiential live shows. Formed in 1998 on a college campus, the nine-piece band has evolved and matured with its changing cast of characters, featuring professors, Jamaican background singers and a few musicians in between. Staying true to their roots despite extensive touring and a prolific discography remains key to Groundation's success, as the band sticks strictly to analog instruments and sums up their music with this quote: "If you don't know your past, you don't know your future.”
