Description
Only a virtuoso with pronounced technical accomplishment would dare to tackle the concerto by Niccolo Paganini or Sergei Rachmaninoff. Melvin Chen, a Juilliard alum with a double master’s degree in piano and violin, will take on both in the same evening. On October 19 at 7:30 pm, Chen will dazzle the Silicon Valley audience in an unusual presentation of extraordinary musicianship with a group of young talents from the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. It is a fundraising event for this one-year-old non-profit organization based in San Jose. The program will include Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2 and music by Mendelssohn and Rimsky-Korsakov.More Info
