The Kanbar Center for the Performing Arts and The Center for Jewish Peoplehood at the Osher Marin JCC are proud to co-present the premiere of this film starring & written by Matthew Jacobs and Rabbi Lawrence Kushner, Directed by Matthew Jacobs.

A rabbi and a pornographer walk into a room… Sound like the set up to a joke? It’s actually the subject of a new film, Your Good Friend, starring Rabbi Lawrence Kushner, and making its West Coast premiere at the Osher Marin JCC on May 22, 2014 @ 7pm.
A recently widowed rabbi returns to San Francisco to find a washed-up British pornographer living in the very apartment where he and his wife fell in love. To earn enough money for the pornographer to return home to London and the rabbi to get the apartment, they team up to create a clergy-approved erotic website.
This strange, beautiful and poignant friendship develops into a tongue-in-cheek mockumentary that packs an emotional punch, prompting us to explore the deeper meanings of love and life. The rabbi is played by real-life Rabbi Lawrence Kushner, Scholar-in-Residence at Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco and artist extraordinaire whose work was recently exhibited at the Osher Marin JCC .
