Description
Smuin Ballet may not always perform en pointe--its holiday show, for instance, incorporates grass skirts and feather boas--but for two decades the company has proved itself on point with original repertoire that encompasses both the classical and the contemporary. Smuin Ballet celebrates its 20th anniversary with "XXtremes," a program that features Jiri Kylian's Return to a Strange Land, set to four works by Leos Janacek; Dear Miss Cline, a work set to Patsy Cline songs, by Smuin choreographer in residence Amy Seiwert and Carmina Burana, set to Carl Orff's dramatic work, choreographed by late company founder Michael Smuin.
