Description
Writers often work with linearity as they develop plots, characters, beginnings, middles, ends. "Just as we sometimes need to protect the creative mind from our editorial voices, sometimes we need to give the non-linear attention and time," says instructor Dominica Kriz. "I’m interested in dissolving the hierarchy that makes the linearity of waking life more "real" than the non-linearity of dreams and other "irrational" moments." In this class you will write intensively and devote yourself to subterranean surprises, keeping dream journals and watching for fleeting words and images, especially the ones that don’t "make sense." Students will create treasure files of original and unique work which they may either continue to develop along experimental lines or incorporate into more traditional forms.More Info
