WRITERS IN RECOVERY TO CELEBRATENATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH
In celebration of National Recovery Month, Writers in Recovery and Central Recovery Press will present an evening reading on Saturday, September 25 from 7 to 9:30 pm at Modern Times Bookstore, 888 Valencia @ 20th Street, San Francisco. Featured writers include:
Tom Catton, whose story appears in a twelve-step fellowship text with more than seven million copies in circulation around the world. He is the author of The Mindful Addict, a memoir which details Catton’s experiences in the 60s and his eventual move away from drugs and towards the practice of meditation and introspection.
Bucky Sinister, author of Get Up who presents self-deprecating view of addiction and recovery and helps readers to understand the humor inherent in both.
Bill Wright, editor of The Charles O’Connor Story, a true story of Mission District gangster Chuck O’Connor, who robbed banks with Baby Face Nelson, and later became one of the biggest heroin smugglers on the West Coast. At age 75, O’Connor dedicated the remainder of his life to recovery and started the Marin Services for Men / O’Connor House.
Authors will read from their works and sign their books which will be available for purchase.
