Description
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in the case of "Word as Image II," the new exhibit at Stanford University's Cantor Center for Visual Arts, sometimes words themselves can be the pictures (not sure how that affects the calculation of worth). The pieces in the exhibit represent a range of media, including lithograph, ink and watercolor, collage, and rubber stamp print, dating mostly from the 1970s, and come from the university's Marmor Collection. All use text and lettering to play with meaning, art and pop culture. (KK)
