Description
William Poy Lee will read from and discuss his book, "The Eighth Promise: An American Son's Tribute to His Toisanese Mother." In this remarkable memoir, mother and son, in alternating chapters, tell the stories of their lives--his mother's life in a remote farming village in China in the 1930's and 40's, and the author's youth in the housing projects of San Francisco's Chinatown and the counterculture of North Beach in the 1960's and 70's.
