This weekend we welcome back Navbox to the decks of Otis once again! It's his third time throwing down the vinyl at our quaint yet jumping Sunday Night spot. We couldn't be more excited to bring this WERD. homie back across the nation from DC to unite the east and west coasts. This ain't Nav's first rodeo, so come show your support for the man that brings the deep.

Opening up the room and creating that warm fuzzy feeling inside will be your resident WERDo Nick Williams.

NAVBOX [Stranger than Paradise | DC}

Navbox was born in Tehran, Iran shortly after the revolution where he spent the better part of his childhood. At the age of four and while in Iran, he started with piano and ear training and ever since, music has played an integral part in his life. At ten, he relocated to the States with his family; first Seattle, then DC.

A few years later, he began visiting the City’s clubs when he was fifteen, and like many of us, everything changed. He was drawn into the sounds of house and techno that were being played in DC’s clubs at the time but desired for music that was more underground. He quickly purchased a pair of Technics and began collecting records at the turn of the millenium.

For Navbox there was more to music than collecting records and in 2004, he relocated to Boston to study music and sound
engineering at Berklee. There he fell in love with the town and furthered his education in sound, music and continued exploring house music‘s history. He was asked to open up the nights at Boston’s established venues as well as becoming a staple of the afterhours scene with extended sets exploring underground sounds of Germany and Europe while paying homage to American house from Detroit, Chicago and out West.

Upon obtaining his degree, Navbox relocated to DC and off to XM Radio’s recording studios where he had the opportunity to
help record some of music industry’s top bands and singer songwriters. Realizing the city’s nightlife had changed and was lacking any representation of underground house music, he began to organize the city’s earliest nights featuring underground national and international house DJs at various venues around the city and jump-started ‘Stranger Than Paradise (STP)’ with the help of friends.

Staying at the edge of the music, STP was responsible for bringing artists like Bruno Pronsato, Davide Squillace, Soul Clap, Dyed Soundorom, and countless others to DC for the first time and Navbox had the opportunity to play alongide and hone his craft as a DJ. In 2009 Navbox was voted Best DJ by The Washington City Paper reader's poll and Baltimore’s Gutter Magazine cited STP as “the promoter group largely responsible for making DC the internationally respected music destination that it has become in recent years.” The following year Navbox released his debut track, ‘He Likes You Too’, as part of Soul Clap’s FreE.P. to high praise.

Throughout the years, Navbox has toured and played shows in Mexico, Barcelona, Miami, New York, Boston, San Francisco,
Seattle and of course DC. He continues to dig deep through the many shades of house including techno, deep, minimal,
organic and selecing records new and old that pass the test of time.
