Fans of Weezer's early days should be excited to hear that their new record, Everything Will Be Alright, was produced by Ric Ocasek. He's the guy that produced their critically and commercially adored self-titled debut (The Blue Album). Not only that, but the songs mark a return to form, particularly the form of that first album. It's a lighthearted, riff-heavy power-pop sound that lead singer Rivers Cuomo describes as "You are 16, riding your bicycle to get a slurpee." Cuomo is also apparently working on a primetime comedy with Psych creator, Steve Franks, about a neurotic rock star having trouble coping with his newfound fame—clearly a nod to Cuomo's early career tribulations (listen: Pinkerton).
