Description

From the Academy Award winning movie Milk to the battle that is being waged over Prop 8 in California, and the upcoming June Pride events in the Bay Area, 2009 is working up to be a year of reflection, nostalgia, and forward thinking for many connected to the gay community. With these sentiments in mind, and merry making as well, RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco will open its Gay Pride exhibit ‘We Are…’ featuring the portrait work of Lisa Kanemoto, on Thursday, June 25, 2009. The exhibition will run through July 31st, 2009.

The provoking and iconic images presented in ‘We Are…’ overflow with liberation. And as RayKo owner Stuart Kogod notes, “The show is wrapped in nostalgia appeal, and I mean that in the best sense of the word. It captures the moment in time in which the gay rights movement blossomed, recalling both how different things became after that moment, and embodying the concept of a forgotten gem. ”
