Description
Far too often in our current society we come across film adaptations of traditional fairy tales that have been watered down, sugarcoated and even butchered to become the "Happily Ever After" versions that we know today. These co-opted renditions have proven to be a dominant influence on our modern culture. This group show will bring a visual revival to the original texts of these stories to show that a beautiful tragedy can be just as moving and even more inspirational than silver screen modified portrayals.Each innovative artist involved will show through their work the essential elements of these classic narratives that have been lost throughout the decades. The art will reflect the importance of looking back to draw inspiration from the morals that each revered story intended to instill. By visually depicting the darker fragments of these tales, we plan to not only pay homage to the brilliant authors who wrote them, but also show an extreme appreciation of our history as human beings and the need to bring our imaginations to life through visual story telling.
