Description

Serious waterways once flowed in SF’s Mission District. Ships sailed to and fro with the tides. Salt water mixed with sewage-polluted streams that flowed from freshwater hilltop springs. Some creeks were filled in, others covered over. And some were mythologized — if they ever existed. We’ll dig deep to uncover and evaluate controversies. We’ll climb hills and range widely to check out groundwater springs.

The politics of development struggle with the forces of nature to create the city as we know it. Which one’s winning? Let’s share our ideas and research about the landforms, floods, flumes, the politics of drinking water and global water supplies. This is a tour for curious folks and unfettered fanatics.

Rain doesn’t necessarily cancel. Check here to see exact weather by the minute as it approaches!
