Description

Stanford Repertory Theater presents a theatrical re-creation of Welles' famous 1938 radio broadcast of H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds. A group of actors in a radio studio create the illusion of an invasion from Mars, in the spirit of Halloween fun. Or is it? What do we, or should we, believe? Anticipating the deafening noise of the corporate media, Welles' The War of the Worlds offers a delightful, albeit sobering, exos of gullibility, doubt, fear, rumor, magic, and fabrication.

New company members Monica Cappuccini, Weston Gaylord, and Dante Belletti join SRT veterans Tom Freeland (The Exception and the Rule), Don DeMico (Curse of the Starving Class), and Courtney Walsh (Old Times) in a rousing tribute to the Mercury Theater of the Air and the power of radio on stage!
