Description
Is Jesse Flores the "new voice of Chicano Rock?" Ironically, the lead singer of Vudu Café's biggest competition for the title is co-headlining with him at this show. That would be Salvador Santana, who some would say has an unfair advantage, being the son of Carlos. But here's the biggest irony: Flores actually sounds more like Carlos Santana than Salvador does. With a heavy, classic-rock sound defined by Flores' superbly technical guitar and voice, Flores has one foot solidly in the '60s and '70s heyday of the genre, while Salvador, with his infusion of hip-hop and other new sounds, has worked hard to get out of the shadow of that legacy.
