The Lit Slam is bringing the incredible Jamila Woods back to the Bay for our final Open Submission show of the season. Not giving you the opportunity to study with her would just be wrong. Do right by yourself and your poetry. Come learn a thing or two about your voice!A persona poem is a poem written in the first person in which the writer takes on the voice of an animal, object, or other being outside of themselves. This workshop will use writing prompts and interactive activities to discover the strategies and tools needed to write from a perspective other than your own. We'll also explore the role of the self in persona poems, and dig into the burning question: are persona poems still autobiographical? Prior poetry writing experience recommended, no experience with writing personas necessary!
