Description
Calling all Francophiles to join us on the first stop of the 2019-2020 season of the San Jose Wind Symphony. Vive La France begins on a high note – literally – as we welcome the great French flautist Isabelle Chapuis, performing Carmen Fantasy by Bizet. She was born in Dijon, France and studied with several of the best-known flutists in France, including Jean-Pierre Rampal. She attended the Conservatoire national de musique in Paris. In California, Isabelle was appointed Lecturer-in-Flute in the Department of Music at San Jose State University teaching both undergraduate and graduate flute students, receiving many awards, until her retirement in 2008.
Her many performing roles include serving as Principal Flute of Opera San Jose and Principal Flute with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. As a flute soloist, Isabelle has performed flute concertos with numerous orchestras in the U.S. and Europe.
