The Arts Division of UC Santa Cruz, along with the Film and Digital Media and History of Art and Visual Culture departments, presents a Visual & Media Cultures Colloquium with James Clifford. A Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz, James Clifford's work spans the disciplines of cultural anthropology, art history, visual studies, and history. His written works include The Predicament of Culture: Twentieth Century Ethnography, Literature and Art and Routes: Travel and Translation in the Late 20th Century, both of which are foundational texts for the humanities, the social sciences, and the arts.
