Artist’s Reception: Friday, February 2 5-8pm
Reception is free and open to the public.
Vered’s works are inspired by the ritual objects she encountered in Nigeria, where she spent her childhood. Her memories inspire her new works which are free from the limits of traditional design and craft. The customary earthtones of the ritual objects are replaced with soft blues, greens, pinks and yellow. Each piece is made by hand using traditional techniques of coil-building, pinching, and slab-building, resulting in unique texture and balance. Asymmetrical shapes, imperfect roundness and subtle hues invite us to connect with her pieces, finding new sensibilities in the everyday.
