Description
What could be nicer at the end of a busy summer day than to heat up a pre-made frozen veggie burger, pop it into a bun, add a condiment or two, then hork it down within a minute or two while watching reality TV reruns on your computer at home?Making your own! In a group! At Vegan Hacker on Tuesday June 26th at 7PM!
There are many delicious options for homemade vegan burgers, ranging from the simple grilled portabella mushroom (or marinated tofu slab), to the more complex (but still easy to make) blends of TVP and nuts and beans or something. Perhaps you want to make a raw burger, a post-modern dessert burger, or a fakin’ bacon burger!
At June 26th’s Vegan Hacker, we are hungry for it all. RSVP Today!
Also, this is a BYOBB edition of vegan hacker (the last two B’s stand for “beverages” and “buns”)!!! Beverages may be alcoholic, but please keep in mind that both Noisebridge and this event are all-ages— and also that there are lots of dangerous objects (so please don’t get wasted and accidentally get into an altercation with someone’s projectile-shooting homemade robot!). In terms of buns, bring your favorite kind— or bring the ingredients to make some (an oven and baking sheets are available)! Maggie of VH will bring a batch or two of dough (the type has yet to be decided) for some buns, but probably not enough for everyone. Also, it’s not a “b,” but Maggie will also bring some homemade ketchup— and y’all should bring any other condiments that you may desire.
How it’s gonna work
Attendees will strive to arrive at 7 with ingredients for their vegan burgers in-hand. A brief announcement will be made. People will make their burgers while socializing and sharing ideas (The kitchen at Noisebridge has basic kitchen supplies, an oven, and an induction stove (with an induction stove you can only use a cast iron or stainless steel pan- the stove won’t heat other materials). People will share and eat their burgers (maybe we can even make mini-burgers to increase the variety that we each get to taste) . We’ll clean up. Leftovers will be taken home or given to the hungry hackers of Noisebridge. Everyone will be happy.
Do you want to participate?
Awesome! just email us (veganhackersf at gmail dot com) with your name and the number of people in your party. If you already know what you’re bringing, let us know too!
